Chang Ching Ling (張靖翎) celebrates her birthday today at the Tong Hwa Golf Club with her third TLPGA Tour victory of the season. She shot a final-round 70 to finish at 12-under 204 to edge An Ho Yu (安禾佑) by two shots, who were at one point tied for the lead, and took away a NT$540,000 champion’s prize at the NT$3-million Da Da Digital Ladies Open.
Chang started the final round today with a two-shot lead. However, she wasted a string of opportunities and only converted her first birdie of the day on no.8.
“I was hitting well from the tee, nice irons, but yeah, I had a difficult time on the greens, which made it a little nerve wracking in the morning,” said Chang, who was leveled by An at the turn at 10-under after An went out in 33 impressively.
Chang missed the green on the 10th hole and left with a bogey. Luckily for her, An also dropped a shot on the 10th as both leaders slipped back to 9-under.
“It was tense. We were both not as productive as we were on the front nine because we were kind of looking at each other and seeing who was going to take that risk and go for the pin, and neither of us quite had the courage to do that,” said An with a smile. “Unfortunately, I lost my ball after I shot into the right woods off the 17th tee, and got a penalty. That just killed my chance. But I was proud with how I was able to raise my level on the important moments early and really took it to her (Chang). It was a great week.”
Chang settled well after that 10th hole setback, rolling in two birdies on the final eight holes and sealing the victory. She hasn’t held a TLPGA Tour until this year and now she has three titles to her name.
“First of all, I would like to say thank you to Da Da Digital and the Da Da Digital Foundation for making this great event. I enjoyed playing here. And big thanks to the Tong Hwa Club, the staffs and caddies. You guys did an amazing job to keep the course in such good shape,” said Chang. “Also thanks to the TLPGA, my coach, physio team, sponsors, and last but not least my husband. Thank you for always believing in me even in the hardest times. I’m happy to share this special moment with you.”
Chen Chih-Min (陳之敏) wrapped it up another two shots back at 8-under 208 to record her first top-3 finish in 2024. She shot five birdies today but made two late bogeys on the 14th and 17th to settled with a final-round 69.
This week on the TLPGA Tour, players travel to the third annual Da Da Digital Ladies Open.
