2013 Taiwan LPGA Tour CTBC Ladies Open Tournament Preview
Date:2013-09-17

After nearly two months of break, TLPGA heads to Sunrise Golf &Country Club for the NT$3 million CTBC Ladies Open. Previously known as the Chinatrust Ladies Charity Open, this event will be played on a picturesque golf course which will also see the highlight of the season, Sunrise Taiwan LPGA, to take place in October.

A strong international field comprised of 89 players from host Taiwan and eight other countries will be on display beginning Thursday. Winner of this year’s event will be awarded NT$600,000 and the top three finishing Taiwanese players will receive wildcards into the LPGA co-sanctioned Sunrise Taiwan LPGA in the final week in October.

A number of pre-tournament favorites should also begin their challenges, including TLPGA no1 on the Money List Liu Yi-Chen (Babe) (劉依貞), no.4 Shih Huei Ju (石惠如), no.5 Lin Tzu-Chi (林子麒), no.7 Hsieh Yu-Ling (謝瑀玲), and no.8 Kuo Ai-Chen (郭艾榛).

Defending champion Numa Gulyanamitta of Thailand, and winner in the latest TLPGA event, KENDA Tires TLPGA Open, Malaysian Ainil Johani Abu Bakar will be in action as well.

Ye-Na Chung from Korea, who came out on top in the professional group at Chung Cheng Ladies Open , and 15-year-old Taiwanese Cheng Ssu-Chia (程思嘉), who’s still yet to turn pro but was the only one with a score to beat Chung in that event, are both among the biggest contenders to steal their second TLPGA win.

Nicknamed “Liitle Yani”, promising teenager Lee Min (李旻) will be looking for her career breakthrough on the weekend. Despite having to miss half of the season due to appendicitis, Lee is slowly getting acts together and just earned herself a spot in the LPGA Qualifying Stage 2.
