The 2023 GRIN Cup Charity Open, with a three-round format, kickstarts this Wednesday at the Taiwan Golf Club, which was nicknamed by the locals as “Old Tamsui Course”.
92 professionals and 9 local elites are in the international field, who will be vying for a NT$3 million purse and a top cash prize of NT540,000. Twelve senior players will also be featured in an 18-hole event on the final day.
Charity donation raised before and throughout the tournament by GRIN, a leading membrane material manufacturer in Taiwan, will be used to aid four local organizations. The pre-tournament funding for this year has reached NT$2.2 million. “We’re so very proud to be a part of the TLPGA Tour, to support these incredible women fighting out there, who are true inspirations every time I see them,” said GRIN president Lin G-E. “We designed a newly-crafted trophy which captures the power and elegance of a woman making a dynamic golf swing, hopefully to give the winning moment a very special complexion.”
“We’ve been giving our absolute best to keep the course in top conditions, after days of heavy rains due to the typhoon,” said Taiwan Golf Club manager Chen Y-H. “And we’re confident to say it will be another pleasant experience to play in our club.” This week’s greens at the Taiwan Golf Club are measured at a speed of 9.5–10.5.
Juliana Hung (洪玉霖), who was fresh off a come-from-behind victory last week, will return to the Old Tamsui Club as the defending titlist.
First-round action is set to begin at 6:30 tomorrow morning. Four hole-in-one prizes will be up for grabs on Hole no.2, 8, 10, and 17.
