The third round of the Wistron Ladies Open was called off as heavy fog rolled in the Sunrise Golf and Country Club.
The original schedule tees off at 7:00 a.m. on Friday morning but after thrice delaying the start time, the tournament decided to shorten the event from four rounds to three rounds at 12 o’clock. The final round will get underway at 7:00 tomorrow.
Chang Ya-Chun (張雅淳) sits in solo lead at 1-over 145. She holds only a one-shot advantage over An Ho-Yu (安禾佑) and Japan LPGA Tour member Phoebe Yao (姚宣榆), who were tied at 146. Thailand’s Chonlada Chayanun is currently the best international player at 7-over 151 which puts her in a tie for tenth.
Set at 6,318 yards long for the week, the Sunrise golf course has hosted some major global events such as the LPGA Taiwan Championship, and it was also chosen as the venue of the 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade.
Wistron, one of the global leaders in the ICT (Information and Communications Technology) field, has been an important partner with the TLPGA since 2006 and hosting the annual Wistron Ladies Open since 2020.
Last year, the total prize money of the Wistron tournament had increased from NT$6 million in its inception year to NT$10 million ($330,000). This year, the 2022 Wistron Ladies Open became the richest tournament on the TLPGA Tour with a total prize of $500,000.
Winner on Saturday will take away a $100,000 cash prize. Four hole-in-one prizes are up for grabs on Hole 2, 4, 11, and 16, presented by BESV Smart Bikes, Eagle Golf, SAMPO, and Departure. |
