An “eagle shot” is an exciting display of skill, but not so exciting when the shot actually hit an “eagle”.
This was the strange incident happened the other day in Taichung in an amateur play, when a flying eagle was knocked by a lofted golf ball.
“That’s pretty unusual and unfortunate,” said LPGA Tour player Hsu Wei-Ling (徐薇淩), who has earned herself a nickname “Eagle Hsu” for her achievement passing the 50 mark of the number eagles made through her career on the LPGA Tour. “But I did once hit an egret strolling on the fairway, long time ago when I was an amateur playing on the Taoyuan Golf Club. I kinda felt bad!”
However, Hsu hasn’t been casting her eagle magic just yet in the first round of the Taiwan Mobile Ladies Open on Wednesday, sitting in lone fourth place at 1-under.
Fellow Taiwan Mobile ambassador and LPGA Tour campaigner Lee Min (李旻) also didn’t bring her best game with a first-round 75.
The recent WPG Ladies Open winner has traveled overseas twice this year and hence spent two fortnights in quarantine. “Honestly, it was difficult to be closed in the room, emotionally, especially in the last day of quarantine, you feel like every second is like a day,” Lee said. “I try not to spend much time lying on the bed or watching my phone, trying to keep myself active with some home workouts. I also like books. I find myself fond of motivational books recently. They keep me calm, help me to reflect on myself, but they often come with a soothing effect that also make me want to sleep!” |
