TLPGA Member Lee Min Captures Third Symetra Tour Victory Press Release
Date:2021-05-31

One week after Hsu Wei-Ling (徐薇凌) created history by winning her first LPGA Tour title at the Pure Silk Championship, another TLPGA member Lee Min (李旻) repeated the efforts on the LPGA’s second-tier Symetra Tour, pocketing her third tour win and eighth professional victory at the Mission Inn Resort and Club Championship.

The 2014 Rookie of the Year honoree, who clinched one victory, seven top-10 finishes, and a year-end top-5 spot on her first year on the Symetra Tour, has moved herself into a different league, accumulating four TLPGA Tour wins, including one just last November at the Party Golfers Ladies Open, one China LPGA Tour triumph, and one Symetra Tour title in just the past couple of years. And now this week, she increased her Symetra Tour trophy count to 3.

Saturday’s second round sped the pace for Lee when she pulled an 8-under performance firing seven birdies and one eagle in one day.

Starting the final round with a birdie on the first hole, Lee gave herself a two-stroke lead over the chasing pack when she picked up another shot on the 12th green.

A bogey on the 17th, where she made eagle the day before, put a little more pressure on Lee. However, the Taiwanese calmly sent the winning par putt into the 18th hole, taking away the championship by one shot. Her final total was 8-under 211.

Fellow TLPGA member Chien Pei-Yun (錢珮芸) wrapped up the week also in the top-5, using a final-round 2-under to finish at 5-under par.

“I felt really good with great preparation and confidence when 2021 started, but I hadn’t been able to really produce results. It was a better week at the Pure Silk, and yeah, it’s been an even better one here at the Mission Inn Resort,” Lee said.

“I was playing pretty well on the TLPGA Tour last year, when the pandemic just changed everything, but thanks to the TLPGA and sponsors for building a safe environment for us members to still be able to compete and make a living,” said Lee. “I also earned more time to reflect on what I was doing the past few years in the U.S., seeing where I could make a change to improve. From this perspective, I really appreciate this special time in 2020.”

With a T31 finish at the Pure Silk Championship presented by Visit Williamsburg, Lee has now moved from category 14 into category 13 at no.155 on the LPGA Priority List after the Reshuffle, giving Lee a massively better chance of getting into future LPGA Tour events which usually have a field of 144 players.

On the Japan LPGA Tour, former JLPGA major champ Teresa Lu (盧曉晴) finished the Resorttrust Ladies in T15 on Sunday on 2-under 286.

The 2021 U.S. Women’s Open, an LPGA Tour major tournament, is set to get underway this Thursday. Taiwan and the TLPGA have four representatives on the entry list with Hsu Wei-Ling, Cheng Ssu-Chia (程思嘉) and amateur Hung Jo-Hua (洪若華) and Tseng Tsai-Ching (曾彩晴). TLPGA Chairwoman Liu Yi-Chen expressed her good wishes to all participating members to leave their mark on the highest stage.
