Hsin Chu Golf Country Club will be the backdrop for this week’s Technology Cup presented by the collected effort from local technology industries, boasting a NT$3 million purse and a NT$600,000 winner prize.
The success of this event was an important stride on the TLPGA roadmap in pursue of the recognition of WWGR. According to WWGR guideline, Tour must have a minimum yearly schedule of ten events to gain eligibility in the application of the membership, while this year the TLPGA had shown its ambitions and released the calendar with up to 20 events, including 5 pro-junior tournaments and 13 professional tournaments (5 co-sanctioned with LAGT, 1 co-sanctioned with KLPGT, and the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship sanctioned with GAROC and USLPGA).
Liu Yi-Chen, chairwoman of the TLPGA, attended the WWGR conference in July, 2012 to bring up the 2013 TLPGA Tour blueprint which had surpassed the China LPGA Tour and the ALPG purse-wise as the world’s fifth biggest female golf tour. As soon as in 2014, TLPGA could be able to provide its players the justifications of the precious World Ranking points to get direct entries in higher-tier events, such as 2016 Rio Olympics.
A strong field of 91 players from ten countries, including 53 Taiwan natives, as many as 19 from Thailand, eight from Japan and more, will contend over 31 May. – 2 Jun., 54 holes in the 2013 Technology Cup for a NT$600,000 first-place prize.
Thai Tiranan Yoopan will also return to the Hsin Chu Golf Country Club for her title defense.
Another huge favorite coming from Thailand is Wichanee Meechai. The 23-year-old is in for a hat trick, who is striving for her third victory in a row after coming out on top at last week’s Beijing Challenge on the CLPGA Tour. |
