Titiya Plucksataporn from Thailand took the lead after two rounds with a bogey-free 4-under 68 at the 2013 TLPGA&Royal Open, the season-opening event co-sanctioned with LAGT. She leads compatriot Thidapa Suwannapura by 3 shot before final round begins.
Plucksataporn’s bogey-free round today was highlighted by an incredible 20-yard chip on par-4 fifth. But her personal favorite goes to a birdie on the last hole. “It was not an easy hole for sure, so I was really happy to pull off that birdie to finish the day.”
“I’m looking forward to tomorrow but honestly I’m slightly nervous because I didn’t get the chance to play in the final group that often,” said Plucksataporn. “I’ll be trying as hard I could, though.”
Suwannapura made four birdies and one bogey to finish today 69 and a two-round combined of 140, trailing Plucksataporn by three shots. Suwannapura turned pro in 2010 and ranked as high as year-end no.4 last year on the Symetra Tour.
Teresa Lu (盧曉晴), 18-year-old Tour rookie Hsu Wei-Ling (徐薇淩) and another Thai on the leaderboard Chuticahi Porani would chase after the championship at 141 with 4 shot to catch up. First-round leader Lu Hsiao-Chuan (呂曉娟) was unlucky as she was caught in the water on 18 and carded a 2-over 74 to be sitting solo sixth with 143.
Two players had pulled out of the competition as two-time winner Huang Yu-Chen (黃玉珍) failed to play due to a car accident before tournament started, and Cheng Meng-Chu (陳孟竺) also withdrew with an injury during first round. While today there was another casualty as promising Taiwanese teenager Lee Min (李旻) quitted after nine holes, before she was diagnosed an acute cecitis and had to overtake a emergency operation this evening.
Top 50 and ties with score of 151 or lower have made the cut for the last round of 2013 TLPGA&Royal Open, in contention of the NT$1.2 million winner prize with a total purse of NT$6 million.
