2017 IOA Championship first round at California Morongo Golf course, three players sharing the lead by 5-under-par 67 including Emily Tubert from USA, Sophia Popov from German and Samantha Richdale from Canada. Taiwan players Ching Huang and Doris Chen both played 72 and tied 33th, which are the best performance of the day among all Taiwanese.
Current scores and ranking as below: Szu-Hsuan Huang and Yu-Ju Chen 74 ranked 62; Rebecca Tsai 75 ranked 79; Tze-Han Lin 76 ranked 90; Scooby Liu, Chang Tzu-Yi and Chieh Jessica Peng 77 ranked 100; Edith Huang 80, Liang Yi-Ling and Yu-Hsin Yen 83.
In the other hand, 3 players with 1 shot behind ranked 4th including Gemma Dryburgh from Scotland and Lauren Kim, Cindy LaCrosse from USA.
Samantha Richdale is a four-time winner on Symetra Tour, last win was the Florida Charity Classic last April. Sophia Popov had five top-10 last year, ranked 14th on OOM almost receive LPGA player card. They both shot 6 birdies and 1 bogey.
Emily Tubert chipped in an eagle at hole 13 from 16 yards away; 4 birdies and 1 bogey, 36-31 to end the round. She played two years of Symetra Tour, four top-10 and eligible to play some of the LPGA tournament this year.
Ching Huang’s first experience at Symetra Tour had 3 birdies but also 3 bogeys today, she had great approaches at hole 4 and 16 left 12 feet and 15 feet birdie putts; putt in 14 feet birdie at hole 18 as well.
Three bogeys occurred at hole 7 by 3 putts, missed the green and failed to approach the pin at hole 14 and 15.
After the round, she said besides some of the chipping error, her woods, irons and putter are in great condition, especially putter total 27 putts today. Under the good weather and course condition, she found hard to save the hole from rough, but thanks to her putt today that saved many holes.
Huang is sophomore year at National Taiwan Sport University, usually practice at Chang Gung Golf Course, sometimes at Kaohsiung Golf Course coached by Chen Chang Teh.
Dorris Chen also had 72 and 3 birdies 3 bogeys, 36-36 after the round, she had great putts total 25, 11 out of 14 holes hit the fairway; in the other hand, irons missed a lot greens, only approached to 8 greens.
Total 27 countries and 132 players (including 6 amateurs) competing, total prize money USD100,000, winner will be rewarded USD15,000.
This is the 2nd tournament out of USA Symetra Tour 21 tournaments; it is also the second year co-certificate between TLPGA Tour and Symetra Tour. Start from this week in California there will be three co-certificated tournaments in a row.
Symetra Tour annual OOM top 10 will receive player card to participate 2018 LPGA Tour.
Second round still separated in two sections from 1st and 10th tee; morning session 7:20am, last group 9:10; afternoon session 12:00pm, last group 13:50pm.
The game held at south California and east Los Angeles city Beaumont Morongo Golf Club, a 54 holes 3 round tournament, course total 6509 yards.
The field gathers the best players around world; including 27-country Thailand, USA, China, New Zealand, German, Australia, Argentina, Philippines, Canada, South Africa, Venezuela, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom, England, Hungary, France, Finland, Brazil, Scotland, Korea, Latvia, Mexico, Spain, Ecuador, Trinidad and Taiwan.
The cut line will set at top 60 and tie after two rounds into the final round. |
