2017 ICTSI Champion Tour Ladies golf first stage today (Mar.8) at Splendido Taal Golf Club in South Philippines, Kanphanitnan MUANGKHUMSAKUL from Thailand made 69 leading solo under the strong wind. Piccio Mia from Philippines on 2nd with 1 stroke behind; Taiwan player Hsin-Ning YEH on 3rd by 71 as well as Pauline Del Rosario from Philippines.
Jo-Hua HUNG amateur player from Taiwan made 73, share 8th with 4 other players.
The other amateur player from Taiwan Xuan CHEN made 74 as well as Yu-Ju CHEN and Hsin LEE, they all tied 13th with the other Thai player.
Hsin-Ning YEH had a smooth front nine by 3 birdies and bogey free, but last nine holes encountered strong wind and result in 1 bogey 1 double bogey, even so she still caught a birdie at her last hole. She said the birdies were made from 4-foot and 12-foot thanks to smooth putter, but the wind became stronger in the last nine holes. She made some miss judgment in the wind at hole 13 and 15, which the ball couldn’t stay on the green where bogeys due to 6-foot miss putt and 3 putts in a row.
Fortunately, she put the ball from 160 yards away by hybrid at the last hole, and putt a 9-foot birdie which made to top 3, also the best score among Taiwan players.
Since last miss cut from Hitachi Classic, YEH gave herself a long rest until two weeks earlier that she pick up the clubs for practice. During the month, she painted and went to gym, a lot of activities but touching her clubs. She said this was a great experience and felt “alive again”, which lead to a great feeling today at the course.
Amateur Jo-Hua HUNG made 2 birdies but 3 bogeys, birdies were at Par 5 holes 6-foot and 12-foot putts. She felt her wedge weren’t quite well today which caused her 2 bogeys, and another bogey due to 3 putts on green.
18-year-old amateur Xuan CHEN was invited by professional player Yu-Chen HUANG, this was her first oversea tournament and she did great. CHEN made 74 ranked 13th with Taiwan players Yu-Ju CHEN and Hsin LEE, she hold her even par score all the way to hole 16 ranked 5th, but 2 straight bogeys caused by wedge miss. She is currently studying at Yu Ming Senior high School 3rd grade in Miao Li.
Kanphanitnan had great condition today, shot 1 birdie in the front 9 holes, after a bogey at hole 12, she made 3 birdies in the last 6 holes which led herself to the first place.
This is a 3 rounds 54 holes tournament, co-organized by TLPGA and LPGT (Ladies Philippine Golf Tour), it’s 2017 TLPGA Tour second event and LPGT opening event.
Total prize money US$75000, winner will be awarded US$15,000 and runner-up awarded US$7500.
Players are from China, England, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Thailand, US and Taiwan total 8 countries 61 professional players and 9 amateurs. 18 Taiwan players and 5 amateurs enter the game; Thailand players also have 23; Philippines composed by 11 professionals and 3 amateurs.
Second round will tee-off from hole 1 and 10, first group tee-off time 8am, last group 10:20am. The cut off line will be top 50 and tied after two rounds. |
