2016 Party Golfer Ladies Open starts from today September 7th, take place at Natiaonal Golf Country Club. Top three are seized by Thailand players Supamas SANGCHAN and Panuma VITAYAKONKOMOL with five-under par 67 tied for the first place; Saranporn LANGKULGASETTRIN with 69 two strokes behind stands solely for the third place. Taiwan player Chen I-Wen opened with a 70 to grab a share of fourth place with two Taiwan amateur players Lin Tze-Han and Hou Yu-Sang.
Due to the rain yesterday afternoon, the course are still wet and muddy, therefore, the committee has allowed preferred lies(one club length) in play. The weather today are mostly cloudy with few drops of rain, besides a little windy, it’s a great weather for tournament.
20-year-old Supamas made six birdies and one bogey, front nine 33, back nine 34. “Everything was pretty good for me, especially my irons and putter, driver is not bad either. There’s 15 holes par on and 28 putts today. I’ve birdied on two par-5 and two par-3 holes, the best birdie happened at 11th hole(par 3) with 15 feet downhill putt. The only bogey was at 12th hole which my tee shot crooked to the woods, spent additional shot for the green.” said 20-year old Thai.
Supamas with 11 years of golf experience, she has conquered one champion in Thailand this year, currently take 2nd place of Thai Tournament OOM. This is her second year at TLPGA tournament and the sixth games in Taiwan.
26-year-old Panuma turned professional in 2009, this is her sixth year participate tournaments in Taiwan. Though the results didn’t went well in the past few years, she has proof herself well in recent games including CTBC Ladies Open last week leading for the first place in the first round, unfortunately things didn’t went well in the last two rounds and ends with tied 24th. Today, she made six birdies and one bogey, with her accurate putting and chipping, three par-5 holes relied on her skills to made birdies. At 8th(par 3), she also had a chipped in birdie 10 yards from the hole. Although her driver and irons are quite normal today, she still managed 13 holes par on.
This is Panuma’s first time entering this tournament, she found herself more mature during the game. “Nowadays I try to think simple, play simple, it doesn’t matter if this stroke went wrong, I will save it from next stroke” added Panuma.
Panuma pointed out the green at National Golf Country Club is beautiful with appropriate speed, fairway’s condition is great and the slopes during are full of challenges. Today with strong wind in the back nine holes, which is also a factor that challenge players’ results.
Saranporn, who take the 3rd place solely, made six birdies and three bogeys. The woods works great, chipping and putting are fine; she made two chip-in-birdies at hole 5 and hole 18, but also made two 3-putting in two holes which result in bogey, total 28 putts after 18 holes. Last week, she tied in the 4th place at CTBC Ladies Open, currently she is at the first place of Thailand Tournament OOM.
Two amateur Taiwan players Lin Tze-Han and Hou Yu-Sang are both sponsored by Swinging Skirts, they’ve just finished 36 holes internal qualification yesterday, continuously playing this tournament is a great loading to energy, but they both surprisingly ended up well and under-par.
Hou Yu-Sang just gained the spot to KEB Hana Bank LPGA in October (Certificated by LPGA and KLPGA) as the 1st place of Swinging Skirts internal qualification yesterday. She made one eagle, three birdie, one bogey and one double-bogey today, front nine 37, back nine 33. At hole 13(par 5), she made her second shot 192 yards straight on the green, only 7 feet to pin, one putt for eagle.
“My tempo went too fast for the first 9 holes, then I try to slow down in the back nine. When I started to catch the wind and my irons recovered, the score then started to get better. During this summer vacation, Swinging Skirts sponsored me for more training and tournament in America and Korea. My mental matured a lot after these overseas experiences. I also keep reminding myself how to play better.” Hou Yu-Sang said.
Lin Tze-Han made 2 birdies and bogey free today, the front nine holes are more stable which I par on every each hole, ended with 34; though back nine are hard to par on, no birdie but still made straight pars.
Chen I-Wen is the best among all Taiwan professional players; she made six birdies but also dropped with four bogeys. The tee offs did not went quite well, only 11 fairway hits, but she still managed good chipping and putting skills, only 27 putts after 18 holes.
“I’ve caught all the birdies among four par 5 holes; 24 feet putt at hole 11, 18 feet putt at hole 17 all end up splendid birdies.” Chen said “Unfortunately, four bogeys happened with poor tee shots and irons, the strong wind also elevate the tournament to a higher level.”
Total prize money NT 3,000,000 which held by Party Golfers for the third year, the format is three rounds 54 holes. Players from six countries: Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, China and Taiwan; total 95 players including 80 professionals and 15 amateurs. Champion will receive NT 540,000, second place will receive NT 288,000. The cut off line is 50 players after two rounds results.
Second round draw will sequence according to first round results, tee off from both 1st tee and 10th tee. The first group will tee off at 07:00 am, last group at 09:15. |
