The 2015 TLPGA Tour season will head south to the Manila, Philippines to the Southlinks Golf Club for the very first edition of the TLPGA Tour and LPGT (Ladies Philippine Golf Tour) co-sanctioned ICTSI Ladies Open. The ICTSI (International Container Terminal Services, Inc.) is the main sponsor of the LPGT.
The ICTSI Ladies Open will be the fourth pit stop of the 2015 TLPGA Tour and the first overseas. It is also the season opener for the LPGT, boasting a purse of US$75,000 as 53 pro players and 17 amateurs from nine countries compete over three days, 54-hole stroke play for the winner prize of US$15,000. There will be no cut this week.
“We are very honored to be jointly hosting this event with the LPGT and look to potentially increase both technical or cultural exchanges with each other,” the TLPGA Chairwoman Liu Yi-Chen (劉依貞) said. “The staff of the Southlinks Golf Club is to be commended for the excellent conditions of this course that will be the perfect backdrop of this historic event.”
Taiwanese youngster Huang Hsien-Wen (黃賢雯), current number 7 in the latest TLPGA Tour Money standings, will lead a squad of 24 TLPGA members that include yesterday’s pro-am winner Liang Yi-Lin (梁宜羚), number 9 Yeh Hsin-Ning (葉欣寧), Huang Pei-Wen (黃珮雯), Pan Yen-Ling (潘彥伶), and Lee Hsin (李欣).
2015 TLPGA Royal Open runner-up, American Tiffany Tavee will be looking for another chance for a first TLPGA Tour win. Tavee is one of the eight TLPGA members contending this week ranked inside the TLPGA Tour top-40.
The Philipines will be setting its sights high as well with the 2014 LPGT Money winner Cyna Rodriguez highlighting the local field which is represented by also two Symetra Tour golfers, Dottie Ardina and Mia Piccio.
Another player to watch out for is Thai Amolkan Phalaivin, who was just one spot back of Rodriguez on the 2014 LPGT Money list. Phalavin bested then defending champion Rodriguez, who won four LPGT Tour titles out of a total eight last year, as she triumphed the 2014 ICTSI Splendido Ladies Open. |
