2014 Taiwan LPGA Tour Chung Cheng Heritage Tour (Autumn) First-Round Recap
Date:2014-11-19

Following the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship, the TLPGA Tour heads to the Chang Gung Golf Club for the Chung Cheng Heritage Tour (Autumn). 2013 winner Babe Liu (劉依貞) and Chen Ssu-Han (陳思涵) both carded 1-under 71 to top the leaderboard after the first round in the 36-hole pro-junior event.

The Heritage Series Tour event groups up the youngsters and the pros as the senior pass down the wisdom, experiences, and the “heritage” of the game to the youth, for which the Tour was named. This week, the final Heritage Tour stop for the season returns to Chang Gung Golf Club, where 35 TLPGA members, 64 amateurs and junior talents will be vying for a purse of NT$600,000, the winning pro player will take away a winner check worth NT$71,000.

Co-organizer Tseng Yani Internationl will also offer the chance for the top-8 finishing junior girls to take part in the Yani Tseng Swinging Skirts “Dream Chasing Elite” Golf Camp, which, debuted last year, has reached an agreement with the AJGA to hand out two wildcards to the 2015 AJGA Yani Tseng Invitational presented by Swinging Skirts Golf Team next June.

The 8 tickets are up for grabs for 31 juniors who teed off today, with Shing Hsuan-Ho (邢宣和) currently atop at 3-over 75. The camp will be taking place December 3-6 at the National Garden Golf Club. The junior golfers can expect to get some personal instructions and the hands-on experience shared by Tseng herself.

Chen Ssu-Han used 3 birdies and 2 bogeys today to finish the round 1-under and headed into Thursday’s final round in the lead with Babe Liu. Chen’s season-best start came at the Meridigen Technology Cup in June where she finished in a tie for second and she hopes to take it “one step further” which is to score a win before 2014 ends.

Co-leader Babe Liu said she will take it as a tune-up leading to the Japan LPGA Tour qualifying test. Liu has already booked a flight tomorrow evening.

Sitting at solo third is Chen Meng-Chu (陳孟竺) who took up the top spot for a long day before bogeying the last two holes and finished with an even-par 72.
